How often should you book a wax?

If you’re new to waxing and currently shaving, the first thing to know is this: you’ll need to put the razor down and let your hair grow for at least two weeks before your first appointment. Waxing needs something to grip, and shaved stubble just isn’t long enough.

After your first wax, come back every month, no exceptions.

At the four-week mark, your hair is right around a quarter of an inch, which is the ideal length for a clean, effective wax. Coming in too early means the hair isn’t long enough to remove properly. Waiting too long means more discomfort and less consistent results.

Here’s the part most people don’t realize: after about three months of consistent monthly waxing, you’ll start seeing your skin stay smoother for longer. That’s because your hair grows in cycles — when you first start, some hairs are growing, some are resting, and some are barely below the surface. After three months of sticking to your schedule, your hair syncs up into the same growth cycle, and that’s when the magic happens.

“But what if my hair isn’t all back yet?”

Come in anyway. Seriously. Here’s a little secret: once you’ve been waxing consistently, some hairs never grow back at all. Repeated waxing can damage the follicle over time, which means thinner, sparser regrowth, and in some cases, no regrowth. That’s a win. Sticking to your monthly appointment keeps you on schedule and keeps your results getting better and better.

The bottom line: wait two weeks after shaving for your first wax, then come back every single month. After three months of consistency, you’ll be smoother for longer and that’s when you’ll really fall in love with waxing.
